We ordered our profile books through Mixbook. Mixbook has amazing and totally customizable photo books and it was a software that I was familiar with using because we often make photo books for relatives as gifts through them. Mixbook gave me a 50% discount because I bought it bulk AND gave me a free PDF copy of the book so that I could also send it electronically to our agencies. Our book is actually printed as a 8.5×11″ magazine, instead of a hard-backed photo book.

These are screenshots of our book but it will give you an idea of the photos and content we used. The second page of our book is a letter to expectant mothers considering our family. I’m going to leave that page out for privacy.¬†We had some suggested questions/topics sent to us from CAC to include in our book. We also had our consultant, Casey, review our book before it was printed.

Back Cover

I proofread our book a hundred times and sent it to my mom and Amy to proofread. I think we fixed all the grammatical and spelling errors (even ones that you might see above.) The goal is to keep your profile book around 20 pages, but also to squeeze a bunch of details. We did go a little over the 20-page mark, but everything was approved by our consultant during our profile book review. We ordered our profile books at the end of April, after our social worker told us to go ahead and move forward with the paper process while waiting for our official home study report.

During that 4-week wait, we chose the agencies we would be applying to through Christian Adoption Consultants. We applied to three agencies and one adoption attorney’s office that acts similar to an adoption agency by providing pre/post- birth mother care & counseling like an agency. Our adoption agencies are mainly in Texas and Florida, but we have presented for a situation in California. We received our PDF version of our home study on Friday, May 19th and mailed most of our agency application paperwork (including a hard copy of our home study and a number of profile books for each agency) the following week.
