We made it to our goal of 36 weeks! I probably should have decided long ago that our goal was 37 weeks, which is considered full term for twins, because now I feel like I am past due. I will try to be patient these next few days because I know that the end is in sight! Yes, the date has been set and we are in the FINAL COUNTDOWN!
I had my 36 week appointment this morning (Tuesday.) The babies look great on ultrasound and their BPPs are still great. Both are vertex (head down) and Eli is REALLY low now. The tech told me not to sneeze or he might come out, haha. The babies are lying facing each other, which is so sweet to picture. In addition to the ridiculous swelling in my feet and legs, I have increased pressure from the babies being so low. It makes walking very uncomfortable and changing clothes is nearly impossible. It is ridiculous how hard it has become to lift my legs into shorts. I also have high blood pressure now. My normal BP is usually 100/60 or somewhere near there. At my appointment today, my BP was 140/80 and 138/80. They did blood work to test for pre-eclampsia. I have a follow-up appointment on Friday. If my blood pressure is still high on Friday, they will induce at that time (36 weeks, 6 days.) If my BP is okay on Friday, then I will be induced late Sunday night/early Monday morning, which will be 37 weeks and 2 days. Of course, if the babies are anything like their big brother Noah, they will decide to come on their own before then! I am already 4cm dilated, so it could be any day now.
By this time next week, I will be holding my two precious babies in my arms. It makes me incredibly excited but also pretty anxious. We are really less than a week away from being a family of FIVE. Whoa!
